Hans de Groene

J.H. (Hans) de Groene (1960) is director of the Innovation Department and deputy director-general of the Directorate-General for Enterprise & Innovation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. His responsibilities include the design and implementation of policies to stimulate R&D and knowledge transfer in the private sector and to promote co-operation between the business sector and the public knowledge infrastructure, especially in key technology areas.  Specific areas of interest include intellectual property, international co-operation and aerospace.

In 1985 he graduated at Erasmus University Rotterdam (Faculty of Economics/economic policy department).

In the 1985-1992 period he worked with the General Economic Policy Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (since 1989 as head of the General Economic and Labour Market Policy unit). In the 1993-2001 period he was attached to the Spatial Economic Policy Department, first as deputy director and since 1997 as director.
